Police! arrests five Burmese nationals

Teknaf, Bangladesh: The camp police of Nayapara camp arrested five Burmese nationals on February 15, while they were entering the refugee camp at around 7 am, said a Majee in the camp.
The five Burmese nationals crossed the Burma-Bangladesh border to visit their relatives in the refugee camp. They crossed in a row boat from Netaung Para point on February 14 around mid-night. After crossing the Naff River, they stayed in a house of a local villager. They all belong to Bawli Bazaar village tract of Maungdaw Township, Arakan State. One of them was identified as Mohammed Sohan (30).
They arrived at the refugee camp by jeep early in the morning. After getting down from the jeep, they tried to enter the refugee camp through the local area when one of the camp policemen Md. Sharif saw them.
The policemen arrested and kept them in a house in a village near the police camp. The house owner is an aide of the police called Shakat (25), hailing from Mousani union of Teknaf.
After the arrest the police demanded Taka 20,000 for their release. The detainees agreed to give Taka 1,000.
However, they were released after they paid Taka 2,600, said a close relative of the arrested in the camp. ##
